Posted May 19, 2017 What do you currently have? What is your budget? What are your needs? For an SSD, I'd highly suggest the Samsung 850 Evo line, they're very fast and very reliable. As for the monitor, that depends on what you need and how much you can spend. Posted May 19, 2017 Both are amazing and you won't go back regardless of which one you choose, but I vote for the SSD as your first upgrade. They're getting pretty cheap and you can get 500GB for less than 200$, or even 1TB for not much more. It's a total game changer to have your computer boot in only a few seconds, same for your games and most "heavy" programs. A second monitor is also very nice, but unless you are working profesionally on your computer than I would get the SSD before the second monitor. Posted May 19, 2017 You could get both depending on what your budget is. A 250 GB 850 evo is $108 on Amazon, add another $100 for a cheap monitor and you are good to go.

Today one of the SM951's in one of my Precision 7510's died, i put in a PO with my boss for a new one, and when she saw the price she instantly went into beancounter mode and threw up a fuss (she happens to know that a 512GB 7200RPM HDD is like 30 quid) and suggested we just put a hard drive in there instead......... i was almost offended lol Home PC: CPU: i7 4790s ~ Motherboard: Asus B85M-E ~ RAM: 32GB Ballistix Sport DDR3 1666 ~ GPU: Sapphire R9 390 Nitro ~ Case: Corsair Carbide Spec-03 ~ Storage: Kingston Predator 240GB PCIE M.2 Boot, 2TB HDD, 3x 480GB SATA SSD's in RAID 0 ~ PSU: Corsair CX600 Display(s): Asus PB287Q , Generic Samsung 1080p 22" ~ Cooling: Arctic T3 Air Cooler, All case fans replaced with Noctua NF-B9 Redux's ~ Keyboard: Logitech G810 Orion ~ Mouse: Cheap Microsoft Wired (i like it) ~ Sound: Radial Pro USB DAC into 250w Powered Speakers ~ Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise x64 Work PC: CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1275 v3 ~ Motherboard: Asrock E3C226D2I ~ RAM: 16GB DDR3 ~ GPU: GTX 460 ~ Case: Silverstone SG05 ~ Storage: 512GB SATA SSD ~ Displays: 3x1080p 24" mix and matched Dell monitors plus a 10" 1080p lilliput monitor above ~ Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise x64
 Posted May 19, 2017 IMO getting a second monitor greatly improved my productivity. Also, I don't really care a lot about how fast things load, such as games, since I've always had just harddrives. *I bought a 128GB SSD for $40 at my local best buy. Posted May 19, 2017 I'm in the opposite camp: When I had multiple monitors I found it harder to focus on getting anything done and my productivity went down. SSD all the way.
