First Mechanical Keyboard

Hey, I'm trying to find a good mechanical keyboard for less than £100 but preferably closer to £50. I definitely need a number pad but macros aren't a priority by any means. I think I want Brown switches cause I've heard they're good for typing and gaming and aren't as loud as Blues which is a must since I play games late into the night and will also being going to Uni next year and I don't want to irritate people around me in halls. Any recommendations? I don't need RGB but if it is backlit I would prefer a blue or white (with dimming) option since red is distracting in my peripheral vision. Thanks.

Eagletec KG010. It's a 40$ blue led mechanical keyboard that feels just like genuine MX blues. You won't be able to tell the difference between it and keyboards three times the price. They also have Windows lock, switchable WASD and arrow keys, a FN key and a breathing effect.

 

If you don't want blue LEDs you can either opt for one without lighting or... Yeah, you're SOL.

If you want red LEDs, then I've heard some good things about this keyboard. This is more like MX greens, but not really all that different from blues.

I'd strongly suggest going to a store and trying out the different switches before you buy. Reading up on them online really doesn't help at all. I researched it for quite a while, finally deciding that Blues would be best for me. I hated them. Almost threw out the keyboard after a week. Browns were second, found them to feel like mushy trash. I ended up liking Reds the best, though with o rings to reduce the travel.

They reduce noise and travel. If you hate noise, then get some for sure. Rosewill makes a good set of them. I myself don't find them necessary, but different people have different needs/wants.

If you press a key you'll feel the actuation point, then some travel after that. So the o-ring reduces the travel after the actuation point

I'm ruling out the Ducky one based on the US layout in the pictures, since I live in the UK and have only used UK keyboards and have to use UK layout at school I'm hesitant since there's no review saying it is definitely a UK layout and not US as it is in the images. I've already got the Masterkeys on the shortlist but the HyperX will only be purchased if it gets significantly cheaper than the others since I don't really like red backlighting as I find it distracting.
