Yes. Doom is single player fps done correctly.

There's a demo. Why not start there?

Edit: Unless something has changed, the Doom demo on Steam doesn't have all the same patches as the full game and switching it to Vulkan causes it to crash on startup. Don't do that.

 

It's an excellent example of a fast-paced arcady arena shooter. If that's something that interests you, you should play Doom.

I've never played any doom game until this one...

 

I've been missing out. It's hella good. There's a reason it won best fps shooter of 2016

It's a great game. Basically the pinnacle of single player arcade shooters. It takes a few hours to get into the flow of the game  and start unlocking lots of weapons and attachments though.

Tis a great game. Snapmap will provide a near endless amount of content and the arcade mode is good too, trying to rack up those points.
