Yeah.

So that AMD CPU is running what's basically a very old microarchitecture, and you can get a lot more value out of Intel's Kabylake Pentium G4560, which is basically an i3 but for half the price, and mops the floor and a good bit of the wall with the Athlon 845. Also, that power supply is a fire hazard.

For $500 CAD, build this instead. It's a hell of a lot better.

You could get a cheaper mobo. The PSU had to go though lol. Otherwise you defiantly need to go the Intel route. It's upgradeable and you're getting more bang for your buck.

No. The cheapest 1x8GB stick is only $2 less, runs at a slower 2133 MHz, and has no heatspreader (ugly green PCB RAM).

The cheaper h110 motherboards will need a BIOS update before being able to run this CPU. The board OP gets may or may not have the update, but if it doesn't, it's a pain, seeing as the system won't start up with the G4560 or any Kabylake chip without the update. He'll have to find someone with a Skylake chip, or find a store to do it for him, or mail it back and request the manufacturer to update it.

Yeah, the Antec BP350 is solid for this configuration, and it's a Tier 4 PSU, so decent quality.

This is a poor build. Excavator CPUs are way too outdated to be considered. They lose to Celerons. The Pentium G4560 is the bare minimum right now.

Also, fire hazard PSU.

Dude if you like intel that's one thing but getting the best for his money and not using some shite tier ram just to get a little bit more out is worth. The build is fine and he can upgrade with time, he needs the cores, the speeds are well, and he gets all he needs even if its "shite" to you

There's nothing wrong with PCB green ram. Nothing at all. It's beautiful and the headspreader not needed.

Thanks everyone

All of these are very helpful!

Also dont forget you can maybe take the hdd from your current pc and a few parts to cut corners if you have a desktop.

Take the HDD

See what ddr spec the ram is, if its ddr3 take it

You can take the cd drive always

And if you dont need the cpu or mobo there are people out there that are still going with some classic old pc's that might buy

Don't turn this into a silly flame war. That build is not the best for his money.

Upgrade my eye. There is no CPU more powerful on the FM2+ platform. You need to do your research if you're going to make recommendations. The Athlon x4 845 is basically the best CPU on the FM2+ platform, so he'll have to upgrade the motherboard if he wants to upgrade the CPU. Since the mainstream today is DDR4 RAM, he'll have to throw out that DDR3 RAM too. It won't work with Skylake, it won't work with Kabylake, it won't work with Coffee Lake, it won't work with Ryzen, it won't work with LGA 2011-3. It won't work with Raven Ridge APUs. It's. A. Bad. Recommendation.

With the G4560? He can upgrade to a Core i7 7700 no sweat without having to replace anything.

Team is far from shite tier, and at least it's DDR4-2400 RAM that works with modern platforms, rather than an outdated type that doesn't work with any modern platform.

Here's a video of what happens to shite power supplies. And this isn't even close to their rated output-

Learn, and then recommend. Not the other way around.

Hmm the only thing I know you might be able to take out of an all in one is the hdd possibly and the ram then the rest is all scrap

If OP does a case upgrade to something with a window, then it's going to stick out like a sore thumb in any colour scheme. Green PCBs just aren't seen on anything anymore, and close to nobody thinks they're beautiful.
