i5-7600k vs i7-7700k

I'm looking to upgrading from my fx-8350. I'm looking into the i5-7600k, and the i7-7700k. I'll mainly do gaming, but I will do some light game development. My main concern is if the i5-7600k will bottleneck my 1080ti. If someone could help me out with picking the right one that would be great, thanks for the help.

If you've got a 1080ti, you're probably gonna need a 7700k.

Honestly though, do you need a 1080ti for what you're doing? I think you could probably downgrade quite a bit.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

1600 does better than a i5, if you game at 1080p get a 7700k.

7700k, 7600k isn't ideal with a 1080 ti

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I would say 7700k for a 1080ti, or an R7 if you prefer higher resolutions over raw framerates.

Really depends on the context you're using (market share or otherwise).  Yeah, I would recommend a Ryzen 5 to most over the i5, but if you're upgrading a lga1151 or need a mini itx, it's still gonna come down either just getting an i5 or building a whole new system.

if you are upgrading an existing 1151 socket you probably have a H110 or B250 mobo and it would be better to get a cheapo second hand i7 anyways

ITX Ryzen is waaaay better than itx i5, same or less power draw even at max OC and boards are already available

True.  I would do that.  Not everybody is about that second hand game either though.

I checked recently and the only one announced so far was Biostar (no thx).  They're still not out yet as far as I know.  Patience is probably a virtue here in all fairness.

The gaming market is moving away from 4c/4t. You need really need at least 4c/8t to take full advantage of many games now, and it will just get more prevalent. This is why in the context of this thread about a gaming/content creation PC, the i5 is becoming irrelevant.
