ONLY thing good about the new Macbook Pro 15in is how the TB3 lanes are routed directly to the CPU without interacting with a controller or PCH. Allows for higher bandwidth and better eGPU performance. I'll probably buy the next gen 15in just for eGPU (I'm assuming eGPU will be more mature and that Apple will stick with it's architecture design). 

 

Otherwise, battery life HAS gotten slightly better. Still not as good. 

 

The screen is REALLY nice. 

 

Is still absolutely broken to SHIT on windows. Like literally unusable. (not that 2015 Macbook was ALOT better, but the 2016 model runs especially bad). Like you don't understand how bad it is until you've installed bootcamp and tried to use it exclusively on Windows. I needed to run a remote legacy business app that doesn't run well via VMs and holy shit was it cancer to work with on Windows. Battery life is literally 2 hours. If that. CPU was slow as shit because it's throttled to 2.8ghz the whole time and I couldn't properly run the 15+ excel spreadsheets with heavy macro and plugins properly at all (not that the 2015 did any better, but 2016 is just even worse) and the AMD GPU is shit without built in OpenCL acceleration built into MacOS. 

 

Returned it within the week. My 2012 specced out retina is still running smooth (did 1 battery replacement at 2000 cycles) and I bought Synergy (from the built in ads from LTT), and now I bring my macbook around as a second screen for color and light photoshop work. Is pretty cool. Don't think it'll be doing it long term, the Macbook Pro is going straight back to retirement after I'm done with a short marketing stint that needs handling.

I'm sorry you're just wrong. You're talking about a product you've NEVER USED and claiming its the best thing in the world, when I've LITERALLY ran it for pro bussiness applications and the thing throttles to 2.8ghz under max computational loads. Literally worse than a 6700HQ. I could of applied liquid metal and kept it under control but I have a 2012 retina kitted out that LITERALLY runs faster than the new one (because on Windows, you can OC it). 

 

It takes me like 20 extra seconds to run my macro heavy excel sheet with a billion conditions and modules because the new Macbook LITERALLY couldn't turbo up properly because the cooling is shit.

Its Apples view that they would rather the machine be a quite as possible for as long as possible. 

 

Its a tight packed machine, if you expect it to run at 30C underload that is your problem.

No. I expect it to run at what a 6920HQ can run at. BUT nooooo. It is literally slower than my Ivy Bridge quad core at max loads because it's throttled to shit and my Ivy Bridge is OCed to 3.8ghz or so. 2.8ghz Skylake is worse than 3.8 Ivy Bridge. And my Macbook is FOUR years older. FOUR. (Excel doesn't run GPU acceleration so GPU doesn't really matter for me on excel workloads).

All my machines run cool most of the time. If I cover up their vents they do get hot. 

 

I don't own a 15" so I wouldnt know, but so far you two people are the only ones that I have heard complain about the cooling.

I wanted to keep mine tbh. Just for eGPU. I find it hilairous that Apple of all people routed their PCIE lanes better than other manufacterers. But I was NOT willing to pay 4 grand to tinker with it.

If these machines had problems It would be everywhere, but outside of a few reviews and some guy on the forum I'm not hearing anything.
