Did you check the rating and reviews?

I did, and none of them says anything about the price.

A) Its getting old.  It launched Q3'15 so its edging up on 2 years old, for goodness sake the 8600k is going to drop soon.

B) AMD Ryzen 5 recently dropped, IMO they make all current i5's somewhat obsolete

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

So is it a bad time to get it?

Historically that hasn't ever led to price drops.

I would personally take an R5 1400 over a 6600k -- the 1400 will have lower averages but better minimums and likely better long-term gaming performance (and better performance in any productivity task already).

Yes until Ryzen, Intel could keep their older chips priced high since they were still significantly superior to AMD chips, but not any more, we are about to see a change in paradigm

Get an R5 1400 or r5 1600 instead

I've been told that Ryzen is better for gaming and streaming, the 6600k would be a reasonable choise, and since i only plan on gaming, i'll get the 6600k, also i plan to emulate some games (the new zelda for example) and the emulators doesn't like AMD processors.

Emulators historically haven't liked AMD CPUs due to their low single threaded performance, but Ryzen doesn't have that issue so much -- yes, single threaded performance is still noticeably behind Kaby Lake, but it's also more than enough to handle emulators.

Right now, a 6600k is somewhat better for gaming -- averages will be higher but minimums (which are equally important) will be lower and more frequent (minimums are what make games look stuttery). So even right now I would rather have a 1400, but especially in the long run as more and more games are already showing a benefit from having more than 4 threads.
