I need to upgrade my mid 2010 MBP, any ideas?

you can either get 13-14 inch laptops with the "U" CPUs or 15 inch with HQ. so it all depends if you think you will actually need something that fast. I personally have 6200U for productivity and I am happy with it because it is tiny. It sounds like you want tiny and super fast which is not really gonna happen until like GBP 2000

Which laptop do you use?

My Build: G3258 OC@4.4GHz - Raijintek Aidos - 8GB Ballistix Sport - H81M-S2H - ASUS R7 250 1GB OC - Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 - EVGA 500+ BRONZE - Windows 10 Pro - Logitech MX Master & K800 Keyboard

My Laptop: Macbook Pro (mid 2010) - C2D @ 2.6GHz - 8GB Apple Ram - Nvidia Geforce 320m 512mb - 850 Evo 120GB + 500GB WD Blue - OS X Sierra

Yeah, but you can use photoshop on most GPUs. Like is a 1050 really that necessary?

No, it is not but you said also you want more performance, speed etc...

A new more expensive laptop needs in my eyes a GPU.

One last question:

How long do you think this laptop would last me before I need to upgrade again and can it replace my desktop (check my sig)

Well, the Dell XPS 15 has a SOLID build quality. I'm pretty sure that you will have enough time to save up some money and upgrade your desktop before the XPS 15 dies. Also, it's more powerful than your desktop, so the XPS 15 is definitely able to replace your desktop.
