Hello all,

I have been using a logitech g930 wireless headset for audio/discord while gaming for a few years now. Aside from the audio and mic quality being lackluster, the padding on the top has worn out and now this very heavy headset is sitting on my head and I'm starting to get migraines during long gaming sessions.  So I was thinking of a few options. I also currently own a pair of sennheiser 558's that I primary use for musing listening, but they are super comfortable and light. I would love to switch to these as a primary headset for gaming but I need a mic solution.

So I originally was thinking about buying a yeti and using that on my desk. The problem with that is I have no desk room and the only place I could place it would be way off to my left side and it would be directly in front of my computer. I have an air 540 case so it's not loud but definitely noticeable over ambient noise. Also I couldn't use a boom arm because the back of my desk already has a mount for my second monitor.

I could buy another headset but the cost is an issue plus I already have these nice sennheiser headphones sitting around that I don't use very often. So I looked into a modmic and that seems like an ideal solution but I do have a few possible concerns. I think the mic quality sounds great but I currently don't have a dac that supports a mic just my headset and I'm worried that audio through the motherboard might have some EMI noise.  I could buy a new dac but from research they seem to be fairly expensive and I'm also currently in the market for a 1080ti so funds are tight right now.

I would really love some thoughts or suggestions! Thanks!

EDIT: Motherboard is an ASUS maximus VII hero with 4790K

You dont need a dac for the modmic. I would go that route personally since you have a decent pair of headphones already

I own 518's, 598c's, HD6xx from mass drop and a blue yeti. I currently use the HD6xx's with the blue yeti.

For my PS4 I bought the G4me One's from sennheiser and a usb to 3.5mm jack adapter for less than a dollar.  Though you dont need this adaptor if you were to plug these directly into the back of your motherboard.

Just grab a mic arm and a snowball, the small proximity helps with backround noise

The only problem is that I can't fit a boom arm on my desk due to my second monitor arm.

Another good option! But I might still try and use my hd 558's and a separate mic first.
