So would a Galaxy S7 or a Canon 50D produce better results in terms of photos?

Depends who is holding the camera, anyone can get a nice image with an iphone, you dont have to do anything other than point it at the subject and press a button.

 

With a camera its more complicated than that. I have had the 50d for about 10 years, I am very pleased with it, but I know how to use it, if I give it to anyone unfamiliar with photography they'll press the button get an overexposed picture and think that its a waste of the £700 or something like that I paid for it back then.  

 

Its also a matter of glass, what lens do you want to put in front of the sensor? A good photographer will get a better image than the phone out of it regardless, but lenses are expensive.
