AIM:

I've been playing around with the idea of a streaming/video editing dedicated system, and I really like the idea of it. Especially since I want to keep all my resources to my main machine as much as possible. Plus I'm not gonna lie, since building my first machine, I've wanted to build another one and the itch is really getting to me.

BUDGET AND LOCATION:

Budget is USD $1200, but I'm willing to push a little, obviously making it less won't cause any complaints from me.

BUILD, MONITOR, PERIPHALS:

This is what I have so far: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TGamer64/saved/s3zxrH

Nothing crazy I think, 16GB of RAM might be a bit overkill for 1080p editing though, and yes the R5 1600 does come with a cooler, I'd like something a bit better for overclocking and such. I would like to run 2 monitors, but I'd like the 2nd monitor to be pretty cheap with compatibility for portrait mode, and I just don't know what to look for with that. I also plan on using the Synergy program so I can continue to use my current keyboard and mouse set-up, but if I must get a 2nd set it's not going to be anything overly fancy. I love my OG Elgato game capture HD and plan to keep using it for older systems, but the HD60 Pro seems like a nice upgrade and I can record/stream in 60fps.

Looking for any advice on anything at all, I'm not really savvy about what's good for encoding and rendering. I've mostly based this build off of recommendations I've found online with my own personal tastes/preferences. Also, I do have 1 specific question, if I plug my HDMI cable from my main machine into the Elgato on the 2nd machine, but then plug a display port cable into the monitor to ensure there is no lag, would that put a dent in my performance? I would think not since it's simply mirroring the display and not rendering a whole new portion of the image.

Yeah you really should get a better gpu because if you spend just a bit more money on the GPU you get quite the return in performance in games.

What this guy said, I'm totally up for switching GPUs but I'd like a good reason for it. I was originally considering a GTX 1060 (CUDA acceleration is bae), but again, I'm not super savvy in rendering or encoding.

What do they plan to stream? I could be wrong but there is a good chance they plan to stream playing games in which case having all this nice setup to stream at high quality when you are playing it at low quality seems silly. From a price to performance metric it doesn't make sense.

Yeah the gtx 1060 seems like a good option. Although the rx series card can do similar acceleration using opencl

Why fans? Also that thread was for gaming. OpenCL acceleration is inferior to CUDA.

Normally yes! But I do have my main system which will actually be running the games (GTX 980ti and i7-6700k etc.) This system is purely meant to keep all the resources to my main machine for more demanding games. But it's also a fun project that I want to do since I have an excess of cash right now.

Only 1070 and up have the CUDA acceleration, sorry. And only the Titan has the OpenCL acceleration in the consumer level graphics cards (the only consumer card with both actually).

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?
