Did I damage my speakers?

Powered speakers are usually spec'd so that even a full scale signal at 100% volume won't damage them. Otherwise a lot of people would probably screw up their speakers.

I plugged in my speakers (swans speakers so bookshelf variants from the late 1900s) and accidentally playing humble like the beginning part for a few seconds before muting it at almost 100 volume

i think there's a minor distortion in the sound but it may just be paranoia - any opinions? @deXxterlab97 @ARikozuM @nerdslayer1

Are they powered speakers? If so, it's almost certainly impossible that they were damaged.

If they weren't powered speakers, we'll need to know more info (model of speaker, amp, volume, etc) to determine whether damage could have occurred. I think it's still unlikely either way, though.

Do they have a power cord? If so, they're powered.

Maybe the 3.5mm (or whatever connector is used) is loose.

You know it's from the 80s if it uses walnut for an accent.

Are you playing classical, rap, rock, scenery compilations, etc to see if the distortion is actually there? Try Take On Me by A-ha.

What about the 3.5mm socket? Is it loose at all? Have you tried another cable?

it's like minor in the bass - i don't know if it's just me but when there are words in teh lower bass ranges it sounds almost wobbly - it might be me - it was essentially a record scratching sound that was REALLY LOUD for 3 or 4 seconds and then imuted it

In car audio iv seen a coil pop out and damage the diaphragm, if this happened you would see physical damage. putting  at 100% instantly will damage your ears but shouldn't fry anything in your speakers. Maybe if you did it 100X your speakers will die

Try playing a thunderstorm from your phone to find if the bass is the issue.
