Ryzen 5 or Intel Core i5?

Hello everyone,

So with Ryzen 5 just coming out I was wondering what to do with my current pc.

My current specs:

- Intel Core i3 4170

- Stock GTX 960 2gb

- 8GB ram DDR3

- 1TB seagate barracuda hdd

- some sort of unknown psu

With this upgrade I'm hoping to be able to livesteam seamlessly as well as recording and editing videos...and of course some gaming.

Should I get the AMD Ryzen 5 1500x or Intel core I5 7500 or something like that?

I know both upgrades will require me to change motherboards and I'm totally fine with that, in the end I want a not too expensive upgrade that will benefit me in what I would like to do.

(also im not rich so my budget is around £300)

Thanks,

Havent watched enough reviews yet, but for the couple I did they liked its productivity performance and its gaming performance was level or not far off. So, I would lean towards the Ryzen 5 chips.

The early reviews are all saying that the R5 1600 is a better bang for buck, and offers good performance, but id give it a week or two just to make sure there are not any major launch issues. If not, the definitely get the R5 1600 and take the extra money and put it somewhere else in the build (or in your pocket). The extra 2 cores on the R5 will be great for streaming. A B350 board and R5 1600 is probably the best price/performance.

Ryzen, an i5 will not work that good for livestreaming.

get an R5 1600, i'd rather recommend going with a haswell i7/Xeon over the 1500x.
