IDK how that would work... most phones are too thin to fit the proper shielding you'd need to protect you from the radiation, so you'd probably wind up dead.

It's a good idea. I mean lithium batteries aren't stable but not as bad as nuclear.

Future wise, not with this technology. Maybe wireless wave charging on a huge scale would be much better

But in all seriousness, no. Radiation when taking phone apart much? Not to mention the complications in not getting radiation when not taking it apart and actually getting it to supply power and such.

Nuclear powered phones wouldn't be very practical other than for very specialized applications. Keep in mind, that you either have really large generators that generate a shootton of electricity or smallish radiators that generate very weak electricity. There's not really any way (at least with current science) to have your cake and eat it too. To have a small generator that makes strong current.

Maybe the theoretical silver bullet of everything, carbon nano tubing will save the day.  Thinking of a little nuclear generator that powers up your practically unlimited capacity battery at the max rate.

More bad news...

 

The simple way nukes work is to shoot a piece of radioactive material into a bigger piece of radioactive material. So if someone shot their phone into yours with a high powered slingshot or something, it could turn it into a nuke.

There is a reason nuclear reactors are always built near a source of water. They need constant cooling because of the shear amount of heat they produce. MAYBE in a few hundred years well have working fusion reactors that are considered everyday safe but not for many decades at least
