Hello,

Buildhttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/3bWgNN

I was wondering if someone could please tell me if this is considered a "good" build. This is my first build and I am on a really tight budget. This computer is for really basic gaming but I don't know if this enough for a smooth gaming experience. Thanks

I'd probably do a g4560 with a rx 460 instead

This is as low as I would ever "comfortably" go:

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TBsdwV
Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TBsdwV/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($59.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock B250M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($61.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($53.87 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($48.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon RX 460 2GB WINDFORCE OC Video Card  ($69.99)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($38.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $333.81
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-04-04 21:28 EDT-0400

If you could squeeze in an RX 470, follow the deal listed in this thread (gotta go through some hoops though):

I manually entered the price as $70 on the RX 460 since you can do a $20 mail in rebate on it.

If you could manage to fit an i3 in for about $60 more that would be great as well

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/J9X2FT/intel-core-i3-7100-39ghz-dual-core-processor-bx80677i37100

No cooler needed for these types of CPUs :)

Also throw in a 1TB harddrive for more room whenever you start running low

I'd do G4560+rx 460 instead and see if you could get an s12ii for the psu instead.

I just found this deal earlier and it seems killer for the price:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9X3F8F/ref=twister_B01G69E69E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

It's a relatively new PSU though so not on PCP yet

Considering the price, I probably wouldn't get it xD.

A Seasonic S12ii is the lowest I'd ever recommend anyone unless they have a sub $300 budget.

then why suggest putting 60 dollars toward the cpu rather than the gpu or an ssd or anything else that would actually improve performance?

Just throwing out possible upgrades if he chose to spend more.

The SSD is fine, I mentioned storage and GPU upgrades.

yeah but i would never suggest anyone get the i3 over the Pentium as it is a waste of money. it would be like suggesting someone should spend the extra money on a titan x over the gtx 1080ti just because it is something you could spend more on. I'm just saying you shouldn't suggest to someone to spend more on an i3 if they have the extra money because it is a waste of money. i would feel bad if op ended up buying the i3 thinking it was a worth while upgrade over the Pentium they were looking at.

It's not a terrible upgrade though, can give ~6-10 FPS boost in most games and the increased 3.9ghz base clock could help in some types of workflows (although yes, I agree the Pentium is fine for this)

that is paired with a high end gpu at which point they would want a better cpu then the i3 anyways.

As far as I can tell it's just an updated B1 with more pcie connectors, which means it's not the best quality.

"Folks on Reddit" aren't that educated in this regard. They may think it's fine, but it's still not as good as others like the S12ii. I went on r/buildapc for 30 minutes one day and the people on there helping people are less educated than those on the ltt forum. There are some that are good, but overall they aren't as good as the ltt forum.
