Rig Update - S340 Elite

So I decided to go with the NZXT S340 Elite, I did not know Asus had an inexpensive B250 mainboard in their ROG STRIX lineup.

I could save 10€ on single channel ram configuration, 24€ on EKL Alpenföhn fans and 10€ going with the Cooler Master Hyper 212X, but it is not a matter of waiting for another paycheck for me. I don't have huge requirements like 4k or 144hz gaming and the money spent on that goes into buying long-lasting components from reputable brands for me.

So what do you think guys? Should I consider the i5-6500 and 1060 6GB maybe? Should I buy a PCIe soundcard for Sony MDR-XB950APs? We'll see how long my 450's will last me.

dont need to upgrade cpu

get a ssd?

RX 480 is better than 3/6gb 1060

dual channel ram doesn't matter much iirc, but more ram helps if you're running out of ram.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I planned to get an SSD until I saw WD Black speed. Drive failure? Well, people only say something when their drives dies.

Shadowplay

16GB of RAM is about 60€ more, which I willl never use anyway. Thought about a ramdrive but whatever.

wd black is nowhere as fast compared to a SSD. i have a wd black, and i see no difference coming from a slower 5200rpm drive (games and program loading speeds)

wait until you can get a 1070/1080, or whatever novideo is launching later this year

why do you need a ram drive? linus did a video where it showed that there is almost no loading time gains. if you want another drive to put your stuff on, maybe consider partitioning your drives?

You can't even compare an HDD to an SDD, especially since you have to consider that the HDD has to spin up to access the data, something you won't see in a simple speed comparison. They're just plain slower.

There's no point in upgrading the things you've mentioned. You'd be getting such minimal increases, it's a complete waste of money. You might as well save up for a real upgrade, like a 1070, 1080, 7700, etc.

An SDD would be a noticeable improvement to add to your build.

Nevermind...I saw this embedded and took it for granted. Yea, might go with an SSD instead of a ramdrive.

I really don't have any use for a 1070, which is a 200€ step-up in Germany.
