SLI bridge size?

My mate wants to get an ASUS Maximus IX Formula mobo to upgrade various components of his build. He doesn't know which size SLI bridge to get. Any ideas?

Measure between the slots on the mobo, the measurements are shown on the image above.

edit:sorry, missed the bit about him not having it yet.

Looking at the specs, it lists the 'sli hb bridge (m)' as an included accessory.

3-slot SLI HB Bridge is the one to go for (according to Nvidia), or 1-slot spacing for other SLI HB Bridges.

I know, it's weird that companies would have different definitions for slot spacing. Basically just look at their pictographs to determine the appropriate one for your friend to get. Look for the one where there's a 1-slot space in between the cards.

He's getting 2 beefy ASUS STRIX GTX 1080Ti's when they release considering the big coolers should I recommend the 80mm one?

The coolers don't matter, only the slot spacing on the motherboard. I believe the 60mm (medium) is the right one, hopefully someone else can conform that.

There is a hb bridge included with the board, but its not one of the led ones, maybe wait until he gets the board, measure the included bridge and then order the led one.
