Yeah Windows is a must, but a games console doesn't come with a TV... So no on the Monitor.

I think 99% of people who buy a console have a TV. Maybe 50% have a 1080p TV

Not many people have a 1080p monitor.

close but another thing you forgot, xbox will use an 8 core, but it is likely to be lower clock for many reasons.

Nothing to see here, move along

4 decent cores are better than 8 weak cores any day of the week

Not to mention the fact that not all the cores are allocated to gaming (unless that has changed).

it may allocate more in the future through updates to improve game quality so as to allow the console to last longer without them needing to send out more.

Maybe but probably not. If i remember correctly this is because of some hooha about running multiple operating systems at once as VMs. I cant remember the specifics but i dont think they will change their strategy.

Now you only need to add 2 controllers, a kinect, an O.S and a bluray player. Plus a 12mth warranty that says: "this will all work together and play every game you buy"  and your set.

Xbone=HD 7790

PS4 = HD 7870

7790<650 Ti Boost

look up specs before you refute :)

My bad for actually looking it up and a few fps on the 650ti boost blowing away a 7790.

650ti boost was the competitor of 7790 when it released

Add in an OS, Bluray Drive and wireless card as well as an input method (controller vs keyboard and mouse), plus included accessories (headset, hdmi lead, Kinect) and see what your pc would amount to. Not to mention the console will be far more optimised due to it being a standard piece of hardware.

I am a PC gamer and have a fairly decent pc, but currently trying to build an equivalently powered pc for the same price is not possible, give it a few years.

They're equal actually

if they are equal why can't the Xbone manage 1080p? the 650 Ti boost was designed by Nvidia to be a budget 1080p GPU and it can deliver 1080p in games.

Overall, look at the hardware specs, and with steam OS coming out Linux gaming maybe the big thing next year, with more games coming out with Linux support every month, not including a Windows OS in the price tag will soon not even be important.

Work Station:: Cooler Master Storm Trooper // i7-3930K @ 3.9 GHz // Asus Sabertooth X79 // Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4X4GB) 1600 MHz // Cooler Master 1200W Gold // Xonar Essence STX // Radeon HD 6970 // Avermedia HD Live Gamer Pro

Gaming Rig:: Cooler Master Scout // i7-2700k @ 4.0GHz // MSI Z68 // G-Skill Ripjaw 16GB (4X4EB) 1066MHz // Antec 750W Bronze // Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD // EVGA GTX 670

you are right, however most console gamers don't want to build their system or install the OS let alone learn how to, so the crux of the issue is still; you pay more to make the equivalent with a pc then you also have to spend time configuring it all to work at it's best.  consoles are plug and play, hell you don't even need to setup the graphics options as they come pre-configured to be the best they can.
