I have very little knowledge about cooler systems. But I am upgrading to an i7-7700k, I do not plan or overclocking, should I just go with a cheap cooler or buy one around £100. Ive always just used the stock coolers, but feeling maybe I should use better.

Does anyone possibly have an opinion on what I should do, or which cooler i should buy?

If you do not play to overclock, then get a cheap one like the Deepcool Gammaxx400, its cheaper than the Hyper 212 evo and it performs just as good.

I don't like the mounting config on some cheap coolers, they are awkward to use and too fiddly by far, bad designing basically.. but the Hyper212 is not bad at all, and cheap to buy... and if you don't plan to overclock then that's the one I would get, but maybe a better, more silent fan to go with it.

Well, as far as I know, the stock cooler can do just good. But If you want a reliable, not so powerful cooler (since you are not going to OC), buy the 212 Evo as they have suggested before. Its almost the best performance/price cooler and is pretty quiet.

IMO. Buy the i7 7700k and stick to the stock cooler. If the CPU temps rise above 85 (in load) then buy the 212 Evo.

You can either get by with a stock cooler if you have a compatible one sitting around or get a cheap one like a Hyper 212 Evo or something similar.  Of course, you could also just future proof yourself and get a better cooler like a DH-15 or an AIO so getting a high overclock in the future is a bit easier...

I put one in my in-laws build with an i5 4690k I did for them no OC on it and it kept temps in the mid 50s during a full stress test of Aida 64 for 1+ hour... very capable cooler for about $10 cheaper than a 212 evo.

ok what if i go sort of in between the suggestions and go with a Noctuna HN U14S

Fairly much anything Noctua should be better than a 212 EVO.  I would just double check your case clearances for your cooler height.  I've got a NH-U12S in a MATX system and the clearance is a tight fit.

Yeah i was thinking about the size there, looks quite large, and i have a large mounted case fan attached that it may hit off, need to try check measurements etc

According to Noctua's specs, you'll want at least 165 mm of height to mount over the CPU.  The U12S requires 158 mm.

Don't bother if you aren't OCing, the Cryorig M9i is better value and performance than the 212 Evo and also quieter and also cheaper and better looking. 212 is overhyped.

Noctua is overkill if you aren't overclocking.
