AMD Key Chain

Catalysator

Hello!

This is a mini-log of how i made a keychain out of an broken AMD Phenom II x4.

The beginning was a little bit slow because of the way I removed the pins... so I just smacked it with a handfile! :D

That's pretty awesome. If I ever have some dead silicone, I might do that.

i have done the same thinng with my spare cpu and must say it is a cool mod, but a word of warning the pins in the cpu destroy the fabric in a pocket (especialy jeens) so i just let mine to get beet up and now it's preety good (also a good conversation starter :))

Did this many years ago... Athlon XP 2400+, shame that if you use one without the heat spreader, it kinda falls apart after 6ish months.

Falls apart? How? Is it just bits getting ripped off or?

Sorry for late reply.

the actual cpu die is very fragile, the keys will chip away at it very quickly.

Mine's made out of my GTX280 that died. I wish I'd taken photos of the hacked up PCB, that was a fun exercise :p

  • 1 month later...

will do this with an old athlon
i did think of this 2 days ago tbh, was going to get some leather and see if i can get a glue strong enough to make a ddr1 266mhz 128mb wristband, going to keep the good stuff for myself.
immediately made a SB700 southbridge locket for the missus (well, nearly done)
unfortunately theres not much jewelry for us guys to wear and theres not enough girls that will know what your girlfriends earrings are (ram probably).

i would say it should be done with all pentium d's-no pins, very thin, stops people thinking theyre awesome cus theyre a dual core!!!! (its a pentium 4.......from 10 years ago!)
also i think it'd be cool if these we're kinda laminated? makes it look more proffesional/lasts longer  :P
