Hello everyone, I'm upgrading my PC but i am unsure about a few things. So I am going to upgrading my motherboard and my CPU mainly.

My graphics card right now is a Geforce GTX1070

My Power supply is EVGA 850 B2

16GB DDR3 Ram

I have a 3TB hard drive and a 256GB SSD

I also have a Optical Drive

And some extra USB slots

So I was thinking about getting this CPU Motherboard bundle

Intel Core i5 6500 3.20 GHz Quad Core Skylake Processor, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache & ASUS LGA1151 DDR4 HDMI DVI M.2 ATX Motherboard with AC Wi-Fi and USB 3.1 Z270E Bundle

and I wanted to get some opinions on the situation.

The Second thing is if I get this I will need a new Case because my case is a mid-tower so does anyone have any good case options that will fit this motherboard and have room if i ever want a second Graphics card.

And finally I saw there is DDR4 but I Dont know if thats anything I will need to worry about.

Please let me know what you think I should do.

Is there a specific reason you say to get a i7 because I don't stream to much or upload videos so I don't see a great reason to get a i7 for a gaming pc.

i7 for gaming is a thing now before getting a i5 would have been good enough, more games are taking advantage of more core and threads of a mainstream i7 7700k especially AAA games.

That's a good point I will keep this in mind but do you have any good cases that I could get for this.

yes an i7 is better but its single figure if any difference in games in synthetic benchmarks they give better scores but thats coz the beanchmark maxs out the cpu and games dont they really really really dont a 7600k is more then fine to run any game at any resolution plz stop sayin this

Honestly never get a locked cpu with a z270 or z170 motherboard. It's such a waste of money. Alot of the cost of the board goes into components that allow you to overclock and if you don't plan on overclocking then that money is wasted. I would go and either pair it with a b150 b250 or h110 motherboard. Otherwise I would get a 6600k 7600k 6700k or 7700k cpu with a z270 motherboard if you really were set on getting a overclockable chipset.

no a 7600k bottlenecks lots of games in lots of resolution, if you want to have the best gaming experience get a i7 7700k.

not this again - i5 is fine now, people don't build PC's to last for "now" they want them to last a number of years,

This picture is from the thread in my signature

Also look at that Battlefield shot, its not just about FPS, but about frame times. the minimums are usually a lot higher on an i7 vs an i5, average FPS doesn't tell the whole story. Admittedly only over the last sort of 6 - 9 months that games have started to benefit from the extra threads that i7 provides - DX12 is only going to compound. Obviously the higher the res the lower the impact of the CPU

I'm not saying i5's are terrible for gaming, i'm not even saying if you  have an i5 then you should upgrade. Ive been trying to make this point for months - I'm speaking purely from a long term perspective and purely at upgraders/new rig builders who have the budget for an i7. I'm not saying put an i7 in at the cost of dropping from a 480 to a 1050ti

This seems like a short sighted viewpoint. Most likely the GPU will be outdated quite quickly and will need to be replaced anyways. When that happens they will be glad they got the i7. This is not to say getting an i5 with a better gpu isn't a bad decisions I'm just saying there is merit to both options.
