This seems like a short sighted viewpoint. Most likely the GPU will be outdated quite quickly and will need to be replaced anyways. When that happens they will be glad they got the i7. This is not to say getting an i5 with a better gpu isn't a bad decisions I'm just saying there is merit to both options.

that's the point we are trying to make a i7 2600k can keep up with a i7 6700k in most games while a i5 6600k is long gone.

Glad we got this info I asked a while back haha

That bundle doesn't make sense, theyre offering a locked CPU with an over clocking board. I would if you can afford it go with a 7700k and a cheaper z series board, 16gb is the sweet spot now for gaming rigs, BF1 for me at 1440P uses 9.5gb vram.

The thing is, the 7700 will outperform the overclocked i5 any ways, so unless you can afford the 7700k you're better off getting the locked 7700 instead of overclocking the i5.

Yea i havent messed around with overclocking

if that doesn't interest you, go with a h270 board and a 7700 (non k) and yes you will need DDR4 as your current DDR3 won't be compatible

Just because you are doing HNC electronics doesn't mean you know about i5/i7 (I'm not saying you don't) sure you will be able to explain how capacitance varies and how different materials effect resistance and current flow, even how transistors work, but not necessarily tech - I'm a helicopter engineer, doesn't mean I know more about car and power steering than a petrol head :)

LOL because we are all feel like its relevant to tell everyone our back story. I am currently studying Game Design. Also the reason I am upgrading is because all the old parts are going to be put into another computer and sold xD

that's really cool, a 7700k would be better than especially for photoshop or just rendering.

Did you read what I do for a living? I'm a helicopter engineer. We have trainees on the aircraft all the time - its called 100% supervision, how do you think people get qualified? The license just gives the theory not the experience - also, not all areas of aeronautical engineering require a licence
