Okay, so this build actually isn't for me, it's for my landlord's boyfriend. He asked me how much it would cost to build a pc to stream Overwatch at 1080p(he wants to be able to play at 100+fps), minimalistic design, midsized case. He does not plan on overclocking the cpu, and says he would prefer to go with air cooling. That's all the detail he really gave me. I keep finding myself second guessing, so I'd really appreciate the input of some of you who have more experience then me. If you can come up with a list of parts to go off of, that would be awesome!

get a decent cooler like a dh 15, darkrock pro 3 or water cooling h100i or x62.

Get s340 for more minimalist look

Maybe a 470 or 480 or 1060 for future proof

16gb of ram maybe if he does video rendering

That PSU is 100% sufficient. 1070 is overkill for him. All he wants is overwatch at over 100 fps which a 1050ti will do no problems.

Like I said, quick and dirty build, took about 5 minutes to put it together real quick.. no one else has done so...

a better gpu would be a good idea minimum a rx480 also a 1050ti cant run overwatch with max setting in 1080p

if they can go for a 1070 i highly suggest it, its a good sweet spot gpu, if its too expensive a rx480 would be a better choice than a 1050ti. 

remember that a 1050 ti can't run overwatch over 100 fps with 1080p and max settings.

A 7700k will perform significantly better than Ryzen in overwatch.

He isn't streaming or video editing or anything like that, so 16 threads will literally be useless because the game doesn't use them.

 

I do recommend the S340 case and dark rock pro 3 cooler.

8 core cpu will chew throw streaming, a 7700k is not worth getting for multitasking.

That x62 is one expensive piece of equipment if there isn't going to be any overclocking. h100i is expensive as well, but it's not $160.

amd ryzen will overclock automaticity based on the load, if the cpu has temp headroom http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/over-drive

Do you not know how quicksync or shadowplay works?

 

It does not affect the fps at all because it doesn't use the CPU.

The 7700k performs better than the 1700X as if you weren't streaming at all.
