I have been noticing with the latest nvidia drivers that they have been running like crap on maxwell on my end. I am currently getting 25fps on gta v with a gtx 980....... I have tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times. Also I have tried reinstalling the game multiple times no change any ideas or just trash drivers

This is something they do unfortunately. Best bet is to install a driver from before Pascal launch to have maximum efficiency for your Maxwell card. Drivers are no longer optimized from Maxwell so they get left in the dirt the longer time moves forward.

no, RX480 is technically a down grade since it performs on par with a 970. If you want to upgrade hardware instead of downgrading software side, upgrade to a 1060 or 1070.

no, just downgrade your drivers to an older version and it will improve your performance. You can also try using DDU to do a full wipe of video drivers and install fresh to see if that helps improve performance as well.

My 770 gets the same or better performance than the day I bought it.

OP is having some issue with the game, or his card is throttling or something.

Uh, that's not how you check for throttling...

Are you sure you know what throttling is?

That's not how you check throttling.

There are more ways than just temps that can cause a GPU to throttle.

Image result for afterburner throttling 0 or 1

First look at the GPU usage, if you see something like this then you have an issue.

Also notice the core clock isn't at it's regular speed.

Power limit throttling is also possible.

Often it is not a problem with the GPU drivers or card, it is the game or windows.

It sounds to me like you have a lot more troubleshooting to do before making false claims like "drivers crap performance".

You have two GPUs?

Did you forget to enable SLI or something or does GTA not have multi-GPU?

Ok, have you tried reinstalling the game?

Can you show a pic of task manager and faster burner with the game not running and then another one with the game running?

When did you start having the fps issues?

Eh, little of column A, little of column B. Fermi and Kepler have been getting crapped on as of late by NVIDIA. It might not be active driver sabotage, but they certainly don't care about making sure that their Pascal drivers aren't raping Kepler.

That said, and here's the column B, I've noticed no ill effects of the screw-drivers on my Maxwell cards as of yet.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
