Idea for Scrap Yard Wars

faytleingod11

I was reading some other posts and they're all variations on the same basic thing: extreme budget pc. Its great entertainment, but they're gotten so good at it, its not quite as dramatic. They know the best sources, the best shortcuts. I think there should be a new curveball.

Same basic premise, build a good pc out of junk, but you have to use only usd (or yen, or dinar, etc) and you can't exchange it for cad.

Well, if it's USD, I'm sure most of Canada accepts them. As for the others, if places don't accept them then it will only last 1 episode, everybody getting rejected.

Was confused but that's good too. I know its different for linus, but I only have computer repair stores near me, and no one else sells new computer parts. It could be interesting seeing them budget out new parts from best buy or something.

I'm sure Linus could find a way. Or like a barter episode. Buys something on cl to trade for the part or something.

I think an Ebay used parts only Scrapyard Wars would be sweet.

That way we could wind up with more interesting builds like the dual socket 8 core rig that Linus showed off a while ago. Ebay is bound to have a greater selection than the local craigslist and more informative for how we can do it ourselves if our own local craigslist happens to be a barren wasteland when it comes to gaming PC parts.

Also have more teams involved than just L&L so we could have more than just 2 competing builds like when he had a guest come and compete on his own team.

With their strict build completion deadline they would seriously be risking missing a critical part if they decide to import a real cheap part from China vs a lesser value part from a closer hemisphere.

I could see them all trying to snipe the same auction, driving up each others prices. Then the person that won is stuck with less money for the rest of the build while the others have to start over after they built their plan around that part.

I'd like that.
