bad performance in inspiron 7567

yesterday i got my new laptop on my hand which is dell inspiron 7567 1050ti version. unlike others, asia version have only with 4gb ram inside. Is it the cause of the fps drop for my games? I have tested dota 2 (around 55-60fps in high settings) and watchdogs 2 (around 35-45fps in high settings). i have set the power options to the max and updated nvidia drivers

No. FPS drops come when the laptop overheats and throttles the cpu. You can have a gtx 1080 ti in there and it wouldn't make any difference. Nothing you can do about that.

A8-7600 {} Gigabyte FM2+ Board {} CX430 {} Corsair Vengeance LP 8gb {} MSI GTX 760 2GB {}

It really isn't, though 8GB would help a lot, the main bottleneck is throttling

Get MSI Afterburner and check temps while stress testing

The WD2 numbers seem fine. The 1050Ti isn't some god GPU. Especially since you are playing High settings. Dota 2 is.. I mean. 55-60FPS seems fine. Any other games to test?

nope, with 1050ti, it should be running around 90-100+fps. Plus i have searched for the wd2 benchmark for this card, they are running constabt 60+ fps with it in high setting, but i cannot(even in medium settings)

Where did you see these numbers.. Jesus christ I can't even do that with a 6700k and R9 290 in GTA V at high settings

This is more of a "because I didn't explicitly see it" post.

  • Are you running the laptop off the battery?
  • Are you sure the GPU is given preference over the integrated one?

no, i plugged it in

yes, gpu is given preference

- good quality laptop cooling pad

- replace thermal compound with a higher quality substitute

- manually throttle cpu slightly to reduce inside temps as they usually share the same copper heat rail.

(I have lowered a multiplier with "throttlestop" by just 1 and it made 10 - 15 degree difference)

- move to north pole

Edit: Custom fan profile also does wonders, I had to do that on my macbook pro to get any kind of half decent performance as it just constantly cooks itself

I have just found this information regarding your laptop in the reviews section, it may help you i'm not sure but lets hope.

*****FPS Killing applications********
I couldn't figure out what is was til today, but IMMEDIATELY disable the Xbox DVR Recording service in Xbox Live ( if you have an account ) or in the system registry ( more advanced, but you don't need to log in. ) After disabling this I noticed a HUGE difference in framerates and overall smoothness during gameplay. Such a ridiculous thing to have pre-enabled on a 'gaming' laptop.

make sure in the control panel it is NOT on something like power saver mode, that can slow stuff down. Try high performance mode
