Actually a lot of people I have talked to think exactly the same. There is just some wierd "overhype" surrounding HL3. A lot of people haven't actually played through all the HL games but are just jumping on the bandwagon. I can make my decision to be excited if and when I finish the entire series. Which I doubt I will.

The hilarious thing about the whole Half Life 3 joke ordeal is that the people going on about "half lyfe 3 confirmed lelelel" probably never actually played a half life title to begin with.

Reminds me of a hilarious hoax not long ago where someone made a fake news article about the death of 'Gordon Freeman's voice actor'. There was loads of upset comments and such, but there is one key fact here that puts it all into perspective - if you had played the games, you would know he never speaks a word (as some sort of measure for immersion.)

i didnt say you should feel the same way other do, im just telling that a lot of people feel pasionate about HL and act fanboyish about it...

Half Life 3 has been overhyped by the fans of the series to the Point where valve will probably never live up to their expectations.

So either they've given up completely. or they are working like crazy. trying to polish it to the Point where it's absolutely superb. (some will still complain though)

 

But yeah. if half Life 3 is announced.. many forums will crash.

I like the games, but yeah, I really don't understand why people love it so much. Maybe it's one of those games you have to play when it came out to like it. Another example was Golden Eye, I just never loved it as much as the rest of the world, but I only played it like 5 years ago.

It almost seems like the fans destroyed the possibility of HL3 ever to exist. So many people seem to be so enthusiast about the HL3 that everyone would actually be dissapointed if the game was ever released.

It's not like it's some sort of supreme masterpiece being denied us. It just happens to be a very good series of games with a very interesting story and setting and when they promised episodic releases in reasonable time, people expected that. Then they had 73+ infinities after episode 2 in which to glorify episode 3 partly seriously, since people actually do want the game of course, partly jokey over-zealousness, because no one expects it to be some sort of gift from the allmighty. Thus the "Overhype" as you call it.
