Finally Joker Ryzen CPU gaming benchmarks on track!

GTX 1080 rendering at 720P low settings is the way to test CPU gaming performance...now YES people DON'T game at 720P with high-end graphics solutions...

But to demonstrate how much can a CPU POTENTIALLY deliver high level of gaming performance rendering on ''easy settings'' for the GPU is the way to do it...

watchdog 2 is a joke in optimization, bf1 result is what i want to see more of also wondering how performance will be in 6 months when most bugs are fixed  software have matured.

Ryzen's IPC is on par with Haswell... It just doesn't overclock. xD

yeah but the 7700K is at least 25% faster pretty much consistently though...i think no optimisation will improve that...also Joker got lucky to run 3000mhz RAM on the platform...i must admit though sometimes the rendering animation does seem smoother on the ryzen CPU with less micro-stuttering it might just be the rendering or capturing of the video or maybe i'm crazy but it does look smoother on multi-core.

no idea..but you can see the full video footage and the screenshot is taken at exactly the same moment in the game it's identicle on both side but i must say if you look the ryzen is at least 90FPS+ average....it had a hickup or someting there...

I am pretty sure that this is vRAM and the scene on the 7700K is a bit more CPU intensive (see the GPU usage?)

Give it a 2-6 weeks. See how performance is then. There are 2-3 obvious flaws with Ryzen right now that are OBVIOUSLY affecting its performance. Like how disabling SMT raised the minimum FPS in BF1 on the 1800x by TWENTY fps and the idea that people have trouble using RAM over 2666Mhz.

SMT overhead is a hardware issue AFAIK... It will be perfected with later revisions of the CPU, but I am not sure that this issue can be solved with a BIOS update...

One thing  that is really odd about the comparison is how in Games like sniper elite, the gpu is being utilized less then the intel counterpart. Is something off?

Intel had the same issues... But they improved the their SMT with every new generation they released...

no it's because the intel CPU is much faster therefore it can process more drawcalls and feed the GPU with more frames, making it work harder.

Most applications and games are compiled in a way to take advantage of Intel's hyperthreading method. AMD's SMT counterpart uses a much different methodology. Windows also controls thread scheduling, which will affect SMT performance as well.

 

Software updates could mitigate the issue if the developers actually put in the effort to do so.

from the benchmarks i've seen though the ryzen SMT seem to outperform that of intel...cause it has superb multi-threaded scalling even though average single core performance...
