Mildly disappointed that there is no support for quad-channel memory and relatively few PCIe lanes for the CPU. Not enough of the little things that make up the heart of workstations and render machines that need/use large amounts of RAM and PCIe lanes (NVLink will not work on the Ryzen boards due to needing 2 16x PCIe connections). All in all, Ryzen is good for gamers, but falls way short of high end workstations.

exactly! i was so disappointed when people were speculating that it would be 700$ or maybe even more. so i was very relieved when i saw that price + prices of mobos forget about it! i am not going to spend as much as i was thinking thank you amd for being the budget and performance (allegedly) king

GPU drivers giving you a hard time? Try this! (DDU)

I think it's good for the industry but it's overhyped. If it doesn't meet expectations from real in-depth testing and falls short of AMD's marketing, oh boy...

March 2nd and the weeks thereafter will show Ryzen in it's true light and not company hearsay.

Let's just hope these expectations pan out, otherwise there'll be a lot of disgruntled people.

Is it funny, mate, but before you get too exasperated at less than 48 hours of the Ryzen thread deluge, please do bear in mind that us AMD fans have been spending years (yes, years) looking at this forum and seeing every single thread being about Intel. Intel this, Intel that, Intel such, Intel so, Kaby Lake, Skylake, Broadwell, Haswell, Mightaswell. Every single thread always about Team Blue, for month after month after month after dreaded month, and every time an AMD topic did turn up, it was immediately slammed down with Thé Text (you know which one I mean). This may sound hypocritical, as I even at one point helped work on Thé Text, and I wouldn't start to say that it was full of falsehoods; far from it. It's just that for years, all that could be talked about was Intel, and now that the balance has finally shifted to AMD for a few hours, we get the Intel fans moaning about that...

It's not so much the amount of Ryzen topics.  It's the repetitive shit that annoys me.  I don't like it when talking about Intel or AMD.  Hell, I get not searching, but people post duplicate shit without even looking at the first page of the subforum that they are about to post in.

That's true, and it annoys me quite a lot as well. Having said that, I seem to recall that the days around the Skylake launch were equally bad, so maybe it's just a temporary thing surrounding new CPU microarchitecture launches (not counting Kaby Lake, since that's not a launch so much as a rehashing of existing material).

Do you understand what "no spam" means?

Because just fyi, it means not making 20 threads about the same thing when there is one main thread where all the discussion is happening.

The goal is to not have parts of discussion split up all over the place.

Also, maybe you didn't notice, but OP is asking what people think of ryzen, and he could have gotten that question answered by literally reading ANY OTHER RYZEN THREAD.

Answer: "Buy an i5."

You mean that constant repetitive useless information?

For most users and those wanting to play high end games, yeh it was probably the most logical option. But when someone asks what they can put in their current AMD system, an i5 for future upgrades is a bit of a pointless answer. It becomes a new board, new RAM, an OS reinstall, may as well buy an SSD, oh and you need a new GPU to take advantage of the CPU. That cheap CPU upgrade becomes an entire new machine within 3 posts and the user never bothers to come back.
