Worried about RyZen!!

Honestly, it seems like RyZen is only a steal if you are a workstation user. The 8c/16t CPUs seem like they will be a huge price:performance increase and a lot cheaper.

 

However, I just want a equivalent of the i5 for RyZen. (4c/8t), and they are going to be 170, possibly 199$. I can get a nice i5 off jet for 205$ right now

 

However!! The problem I see is I can get a good motherboard for an i5 chip for far less than the new AM4 motherboards! If that's the case, I'd be spending more $ buying RyZen as compared to just getting an i5 and a already cheap lg1151 board.

 

And then what if Intel slashes some of their i5 prices after RyZen gets released?  I'm just worried about the AM4 motherboards, how much will they be for people who don't want to OC?

 

I'm just worried it's only going to be a steal for the 8c/16t RyZen buyers. But there is no way on god's green earth I need one of those :( Iuno what to do am I over thinking this?

No, it's a steal for everybody - 

the motherboards on the mainstream (similar to the B series boards on intel architectures) will have OC support and the proessors are coming pre-unlocked, like a K SKU. 

You can push it balls to the wall and get similar benches to the 6600k and 7600k and maybe even 7700k.

When you say push it balls to the walls, you mean manually OCing or the automatic OC that RyZen has? I don't really want to mess with OCing as I'm sure I'll fuck something up  :o

 

Then that would mean I'd need to buy a AM4 cooler too though?

You shooudl always finish with " im not an intel/amd fanboy" becasue appearently a intel or amd fanboy killed an intel/amd fanboy so yeah.

And as for what you said, ofcourse, companies tell you all this stuff about how good it's gonna be but at the end you may only have a 6 month increase performance and then you are gonna end up with a worse cpu and no money in your wallet cause of it.

 

Be careful, make the numbers, calculate your loss if such thing happens, id recommend you to bild it if you are building an entire new system. But not just m otherboard and cpu, that would just destroy the point of it being cheaper.

Nah, from what we've seen from AMD in the past they know how to make a good stock cooler. 

 

I'm talking small manual OC - I've had an OC'd system since day 1, and it's still stable. I was scared that I'd kill it but it's perfectly fine.

well from what we've seen from the leaks so far, all of the chips can be overclocked, but if you don't want to OC just get a chip with no X label so you save some money

I guess this is just speculation as I don't know how much those AM4 boards will be! Does anyone have any info on this? If there are atleast some AM4 boards that are cheap, it will be a steal. However I feel like if they are all 100$+, I'd actually be losing $ upgrading then.  Then again, it might even be worth it if RyZen performs so good!?

 

I'm going absolutely nuts, I just have been WAITING for so long i'm pretty hyped but scared

But can we OC on the B350M-A? If not, then a cheap i5 RyZen equivalent will not be worth it... We'd need to spend atleast 99 to get a good OC from the RyZen chip.

 

But if we CAN oc on the B350M-A, I guess 69$ would make it steal! But then, we might need to buy a separate OC cooler for the AM4 socket as well/ Unless the stock one can OC good, which I'm hoping!
