I7 7700k vs I7 6700k on evga motherboard

Well the price difference between the 6700k and 7700k is not very big. In most cases they are the same price. Performance wise they are nearly identical. That said, I believe the 7700k + Z270 motherboard is where its at right now. Z270 has some obvious benefits over the previous gen's chipset.

 

EVGA boards are known for great overclocking and build quality but at an obvious premium. I think something like an ASUS Strix or Hero board would be more than enough.

I am building my new computer. I would like to know which one is better for gaming? I7 7700k or 6700k? or I don't even need I7 processor?(My GPU is going to be either 1080 or 1080ti) I also want to know does motherboard will really help me a lot when I gaming? Does EVGA Z270 worth the money since it costs like $300? Thanks

both CPU are literally the same with the 7700k able to achieve a slightly higher overclock and has better power consumption. both cpu are fine for those two gpus. I would go with a 7700k since it is newer and really asus z270 a is a solid choice.

The 7700k is obviously better but it generally also costs a little bit more. And unless you're going all out baller, any motherboard past $200 doesn't give you many extra features worth paying for.
