I dont really know how to start this. so iguess im just gonna jump stright into it.

Ive been running my amd 7970's in xfire for the past month.

and some weird stuff is going on ( Evil blue smurfs i tell you!).

acording to MSI Afterburner, my GPU1 is running at tops 5% load during normal browsing. witch iguess is normal. but this is where it gets interesting. my GPU2 is running 100% load. wich is, weird?! iknow right.

so i did some reboots and back and forth looked tru the bios. all seems normal. so i draw the conclution blue smurfs have moved into my second card.

anyone know why they are harrasing my poor GPU.

Anyone ever had this problem with smurfs?.

i made this into a smurf story so i wont turn insane with worries.

Thanks.

Which version of afterburner are you using? i found the latest beta gave me a strange voltage reading so i'm not convinced it works properly

Also download hardware monitor and check the temperature of the 2nd card if its running hot, then its not a false reading on afterburners part...

Also what driver version are you using?

In afterburner, in the general settings, you need to scroll down to the bottom and disable UPLS, it will then ask you to restart and when you boot back up your GPU's will be in sync with each other.

I had this problem too with my 7950s, my second card would constantly run at 100%. The problem was apparently mozilla firefox for me as it only happend when I was browsing the web. Now using chrome and the problem is gone. Don't know what browser you use though.

current system:  i5 2500k @4.5ghz cooled by antec 620 - asrock z77 extreme 4 - 8gb corsair RAM - MSI Twin Frorz 7950 in crossfire - XFX 850w  - Fractal design R4 - samsung 840 120gb ssd - 500gb wd blue hdd - 1440p korean qnix monitor (love it!)

In order to see this option, you have to have MSI afterburner 2.2 or higher, before that you had to disable it through the registry which is much harder and more complex to tell you. If you do have an older version of after burner,I recommend updating to a more up to date version.

I can tell you the reason that your second GPU is running at 100% is because you have UPLS enabled, if it is disabled then the second GPU will sync with the first card and it will no longer run at 100% anymore.

Here is a link to the latest version

PS. choose the BETA version

You have to restart you PC in order for it to function correctly, don't know if you have done that or not?

yup i have. twice just to be sure after i disabled and enabled xfire the second time. just to let it all start fresh.

They are both at 0% now. but it seems like GPU2 dont wanna work with me. even with benchmarking it wont flop up.

Any idea if its software related?. imean i cant really see any difference in performance since i dont own a single game that requires more than one 7970.

but its still nice to see that they are working and helping out eachother

If Im not mustakin, I do believe that is what they are suppose to do when synced together. Mine is doing the same thing, I got 99% on my first GPU and on the second GPU I get 2% but in valley benchmark I'm getting around 90FPS average all the time. which is the correct FPS in that benchmark for two 7950's

well your second card doesn't work for kombuster because you need to run the benchmark or game in fullscreen for crossfire to be able to work. and I don't think you can run kombuster in fullscreen, you van with valley or furmark though.
