Found this in a facebook group, the price is in aud. I know this doesn't include everything but you have lots of money to spare for the gpu and other accessories. You could also build the photon 2.0 by austin evans

310$ i7-7700k

560$ GTX 1080

560$ GTX 1080

50$ ThermalTake Thoughpower Gold 80+ Modular Power Supply

70$ 16GB (2x8) GeIL EVO X DDR4 3000 RGB

uhhhhh, eBay everything else and try to finish for 450$ LOL

And if you can you got a HECK of a PC right there.

or you can get this Computer for 1457$ after 30$ rebate and coupon code CUPID

https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer-Paladin-Z350/W/371925

Use the money saved and buy another GTX 1080???

I think this is the best option since with the 1457 you get a 1080 and you can spend the extra for another 1080 and you'll have an amazing Computer.

mind being more specific on the type of games you play, any peripheral preferences, and any aesthetic preferences about the build?

I just want ideas. Make the list as if you were going to play on it. Also for aesthetics I just want it to match. You can go for whatever color scheme or brand you want.

an RX 480 8gb will run games at 1080p no problem

Wait for Ryzen to build though, when are you going to build it?

a very capable  i7 7700K with an RX 480 8gb is going to run like $1200 max, went overkill on the motherboard and SSDs here, also wait for Ryzen

Monitors choices at $400 are 4k 60hz IPS or 1440p 144hz IPS, both free-sync, G-sync is more expensive naturally

on the 4k display you'd be running AAA games at 1080p upscaled until Vega launches if you want to make use of free-sync that is

the thing is, what works for me most likely isnt close to ideal for you. peripherals are about as much personal preference as the type of shoes you wear.

you come to a forum for people to help *you*, if you want to brainstorm for ideas, there's plenty of sources on the internet to drool at :P

i'd probably slice that a bit differently, cutting some of that SSD goodness off in trade for mechanical mass storage and a more beefy GPU certainly wont hurt. (in case of too much gpu horsepower, add more AA)

Pretty much a full 2K budget system is the i5 with the RX 480 8GB GPU

16GB RAM is a must now with some game eating above 5GB of RAM and your OS and other background software eats 3 to 4GB

250GB SSD for Boot OS and other common programs are a must now

if you want to go cheaper, buy Windows 10 Pro from kinguin.net for 30 bucks

Thing is any build right now will most likely become completely irrelevant once Ryzen drops

That's probably what would have happened over the past 6 years or whatever if AMD were actually competitive in the CPU market

well the (rumored) release list shows their competitor to the i5 has 6c/12t

reminds me of the FX days when 6300 was slower than the i5 2500k

idk

I know you specified you want 1080p resolution in the original post, but unless you are looking for ridiculously high refresh rates (like 200+ fps) I highly recommend going for higher resolution than 1080p since that budget can account for sli 1080s. Seriously, you can expect 144 Hz 1440p no problem in most games. I'm having trouble thinking of any game where you'll dip below 100 fps. If you don't you will be missing out on a  ton of graphical fidelity the card(s) can provide (the point in getting powerful cards like a gtx 1080 is for high resolution and high framerates in games).

Don't undermine the importance of a beautiful panel. People often refer to either the CPU or GPU being the bottlenecks in systems, but I say the true bottle neck is what you perceive from the panel. You don't perceive the calculations running in the background unless you are doing work that involves rending or heavy math (like modeling and running simulations). You can get super high 4k refresh rate with $2000, and you're simply throwing money away otherwise unless you are competitively gaming at ridiculous refresh rates, however you never specified this so I will assume this is not the case. Go for more than 1080p.

Also "$2,000" and "budget PC" don't really make sense together in America (I know you mean the budget is $2000, not literally a budget PC. Just being a smartass :P).
