I have about an hour for the game to download. What do I need to know before jumping in?

Do you buy the ships? you need buy ships to play the game and the spec for this game is pretty high. The last time I check it still dont have many thing in it so have a low hope

Did  you actually do any research on the game before getting it? Because the game is not remotely finished.

I knew it was not finished. I did not realize it was barely past proof of concept.

It is more than a proof of concept at this stage, but still very much in alpha. Although it is certainly the largest open alpha in history.

It really depends on how much you enjoy watching a game develop, I enjoy the big and small iterations per patch and the wealth of info that comes out every month, like this one had regional patches come out, which means the jerkiness has gone and the FPS is playable. I enjoy the actual lack of maps because you can learn it quickly and it then becomes about skill and holding certain points. If that's not for you, get a refund (you have 14 days) and come back when it's a bit more built out.
