I would.  It comes quite close in most situations and can be found for significantly cheaper (here at least)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

It's a good deal regardless, even overclocking the Fury would have near 980 Ti/1070 performance.

Assuming you can get it to 1180+, it would perform like a Fury X or 980 Ti stock.

It's 1050, and you would have to OC it to perform like a Fury X/980 Ti.

Stock is 1000 but my card came factory OC to 1050, and I bumped it to 1150 with no extra voltage.

Of course it's worth it, like literally 200 EU cheaper than the 1070?

You only need an RX 480 4gb for 1080p 60hz gaming, I'd jump straight to 4k instead of 1440p though later on man, will never need to replace your display

I'm guessing the Fury isn't much more than the 480 where you're at?

You can also undervolt the Fury card as well

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Then certainly go AMD because free-sync is bound to be cheaper than G-sync, bout $100-150 USD difference here

Is that the 4gb 480 or 8gb 480? because an 8gb 480 might be a bit more compelling if you can find like an XFX GTR and want to OC it, as the Fury isn't too much faster than a reasonably OC'd 480 and you'd have more VRAM

8GB version ofcourse. im looking at strix version. actually i'm thinking about 1080p at 144hz with r9 fury. so youre telling me rx 480 8gb would be better?

Well you get more VRAM which is important for like Skyrim modding, not too much else yet, but if the 8gb 480 is like 50 EU cheaper it's something to consider I suppose

Dunno how accurate these benchmarks are but they're close at times, and the G1 gaming is a shit RX 480

This is why you'd want to find the XFX GTR

Also some 1390mhz 480 results, should your RX 480 hit like 1400mhz, it should be at least within 20% of the Fury if not closer, and the 480 will consume less power by design

Just throwing another very recent(as in last week) review, comparing a 1070 to a Fury X.

Here

interesting watch, informative, worthwhile if you're trying to make the choice that is best for you.

IMO: 1070 is a much better futureproof choice

ALSO IMO: if you can, Wait for 1080Ti/Vega to launch in the next few months? it could mean significant price drops for the 1080 and maybe 1070 and also possibly a market flooded with nice USED cards at a discounted price.

The fury is an awesome card, if the card hits 1100mhz its effectively a stock furyX, you can unlock some fury cards to a full FuryX, mine is but i can only get my card to 1120mhz stable, which still is an effective 17% (5% from unlocking shaders, 12% from overclock) performance gain over out of the box.

fury is a very nice card. imo I'd go 480 8g for 1440p60 with some settings toned down. for 1080p144 i'd go for fury.

idk

I've the sapphire r9 fury, and play mostly at 1440, 60. Haven't had any problems keeping good frame rates in most cases with frame target set and powerlimits reduced (except red faction guerrilla, dam game needs optimization)

Problem I've had is games locking out settings because of the lower vram, if I cared more about visuals I'd say the roughly 10% performance cut for a 480/390x/1060 in trade off for more vram would be the better option.

My problem with the R9 fury is frame timing, but that I think is more related to my cpu. Bloody thing oc's to 1200mhz easily on my system easily as well, though its more stable at about 1170

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige
