Corsair AF120 vs sp120 node 202 Pic + Drawing

krayiss
Go to solution Solved by Mello,

or you can pay a bit more and get ML120 fans.

You don't really need extra fans anyways.

Q#1 Hey can anyone point me in a direction to find out more about AF or SP fans in a Node 202 or in general Mini ITX case, either a guide or site comparison? Thanks for any help!! : )))

Basically I was thinking x2 SP120 fans would be good in the Node 202 right by the GPU as they need to pull air into the case;

#1 through the dust filter and #2 across the GPU into compact case.

AF120 vs SP120 Perfromance

Airflow ------------- 63.47 CFM, Static Pressure 1.1 mm/H20, Speed 1650 RPM, Sound 30dBA

Static Pressure -- 62.74 CFM, Static Pressure 3.1 mm/H20, Speed 2350 RPM, Sound 35dBA

Edit picked ML120 -thanks Mello

ML120 AF/SP---- 12-75 CFM, Static Pressure 0.4-4.2 mm/H20, Speed 400-2400 RPM, Sound 16-37dBA

Q#2 So same CFM but better pressure pulling air through a filter and across the GPU into the rest of the case +PWM control, at the cost of +5dBA?

Now to choose x2 AF120 or x2 SP120 PWM fans?

Those fans will have to deal with restriction so definitely the SP fans. No questions asked. Linus would rage over the AF fans lol.

I agree, a lot of restriction in airflow in itx cases, an SP fans are known to be better in itx vs AF fans. your motherboard will have som sort of fan control program(if its not a budget board). I would suggest getting 140 mm pwm fans, that way you can control the speed and also the noise coming from the pc. Its not like you need the fans to run at 100% when your computer is idle :P

I did figure AF was pointless but figure I would ask and get opinions, thanks!

My gigabyte has smart fan 5 I think, it seems to work ok. Node 202 just has 2x120mm option it says. And ya PWM ftw, thanks!

Wow you are horrible, I already had 2 of both the AF and SP. You just made me order the ML 120 2-pack, $32. Thanks!

Hey do you know anything about fan splitters? Nvm figured it out, product page says supports 4 pin fan connector.

My motherboard has 1 cpu 4 pin fan head and 1 system 4 pin fan header.

I have a  Silverstone CPF02 1 to 3 PWM fan splitter and it connects up to three 3-pin fans to my 4pin fan header on motherboard. Will this work with 2 ML120 4pins? Thanks again!

It's a 2 pack, so $16.5 for each one which is a good price for them actually.
