The glasses can interpret nearby visual inputs, including letters, faces, objects, products and places, bus numbers and traffic lights. A wearer simply points to an object in front of them, like a container of soy milk in the fridge or an approaching bus, and the device describes what it sees out loud.

“Getting around used to be so difficult, but now I can easily check the color of the traffic lights,” said Negrin.

Seems like a neat device...I guess, but is there really a need for this? I thought it would be something "touch to focus" on phone camer's, but it's not. All it does is describe the colors of something that you point at, which is neat, but would people who wear glasses even need this? I mean, they wear glasses already, so what's the point of this?

I guess I shouldn't be the one to judge, because I don't have to wear glasses. So for those of you have to wear glasses, do you see this as something that you would buy, or a possible necessity?

EDIT: Oh my fail I completely misread the article title...I dunno how that happened.

>.>

I'll still leave what I originally said there. So for people who are nearly blind, ok, I can see the use for this.

Thanks for the post! We game with a person who is technically blind (he can see colors and shapes but can't make things out) and this may work amazingly well for him. It also doesn't hurt that he's been hit by two vehicles in the past couple of years. I'm going to have to point this out to him on Friday.

I like how the woman using the device is a better actor than every other person in the video.  I'm also doubting the capabilities from what I know about current tech, neat idea though.

This seems is really accurate. But $2,500 is pretty expensive as the Glass is $1500. But if it performs its job like shown in the video it would be worth it imo.

I wouldn't say better actor per se... she's constantly looking at the camera and I highly doubt she is actually blind.

She was partially blind, why would she lie about that?
