i think my cpu MAY be bottlenecking my gpu

at the moment the only demanding game i play is rust which is unstable but i still think there could be a bottleneck im on highest settings and occasionally go from 80 fps to 20 which might just be the game because its a little unstable

my specs are:

fx 6300

gtx 1060 6gb

8gb ram

I don't know much about Rust, but the game's video settings you're running could be a huge problem.

rust is so buggy  i get too 100 fps and  sudenly there are drop to 1 fps  when i play    i put all the setting  on lowest posible.  when that happen i need to reset the pc or game   and  the game work fine.

Rust is CPU intensive, but it also has a bipolar engine. I've had games where the frame-rate goes to 32 for seconds at a time when the rest is at the [72]Hz that my monitors support.

FX 6300 isn't exactly a powerhouse but bottlenecks don't usually cause massive drops that's either driverside or gameside instability

I don't know about Rust, maybe the game is not well optimized, but if you encounter this in any other game, it's probably a CPU bottleneck. You can monitor it with MSI Afterburner, google how to use it ;)

I would cap max. framerate (to 60 for example), and see if it helps with drops.

But he has an FX 6300, not a 4790k. I was just telling him how to discover if it was a bottleneck or not
