Is my PSU dying?

MxZeal

After about 30 minutes of overwatch my PC just turned off and when i tried to turn it on it would turn on for like half a second then turn right off then repeat forever (well i tested for 20minutes and moved in) i then unplugged the power for about another 20 minutes then tried again and the same thing. But then suddenly i heard what sound like almost like a SHOCK and i thought "oh fuck unplug it!" but then that shock seemed to have brought it back to life because my PC turned on right after.

What's this mean? Is my PSU dying?

If so what's a good replacement for a HX1050 (don't need that much wattage got a gtx1060 i7 3930k think a 500-600 is fine anyway)

Yep, it does sound like your PSU may have died (unless something is wrong with your wall power and is triggering one of it's protectors like over current protection or over voltage protection or over temperature protection as something is overheating within your PSU).

For PSU suggestions:

EVGA G2, P2, T2, G3, GS, GQ

Seasonic prime, anything seasonic really

XFX, anything really (apart from the XT series, they're out sourced and are crap)

Or infact anything from tier 1-3 from this list (but why not replace it from something in T1 eh? :D)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Actually, before you go through with this:

Your symptoms are literally identical to how my system went down a couple weeks ago. My CPU and motherboard turned out to be dead. The PSU was just fine.

I'd test the PSU in another system if possible first. I have a bet you may have had a short kill your board.

I would first just try troubleshooting. Make sure all connectors are tight. That shock sound could just be a loose connector that's making contact sometimes but not others.
