Would this handle 4k Netflix

chris76816

Hi everyone, I am considering buying the Gigabyte GB-BXBT-1900 Barebone Mini Desktop PC - https://www.jw.com.au/gigabyte-gb-bxbt-1900-barebone-mini-desktop-pc?___SID=U just so I can hook it up to my tv, I know that I obviously have to install the ram,ssd and operating system but do you thing that this would be able to handle displaying 4k or at least 1080p netflix. It won't be used for any gaming at all either.

due to intel bullshit, 4K netfilx is only available for edge browser AND 7th gen kaby lake CPUs

1080p Netflix should be fine, although that processor is a bit old.

Ars Technica has an article on 4k Netflix streaming on PC, from about 2 months ago:

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/11/netflix-4k-streaming-pc-kaby-lake-cpu-windows-10-edge-browser/

Basically the reason it only works on Kaby Lake is because of the 10 bit HVEC decoding and Edge because of PlayReady DRM.

No news that I know of on the AMD side for 10 bit HVEC on Ryzen.
