wouldn't it be better to get a single RX460/470 instead of spending money on older less power efficient card you might not be able to find at acceptable prices?

But ASUS had a really high ratio of lemons on the 280x, would be surprised if that didn't include the 280 (huge backlash from users reporting corrupted VRAM)


Well I guess if you buy used, you'd be able to ask the seller if the card has problems.

I think you're about to hear what most people on this forum think about Asus and their R9 200 series coolers...

Asus don't have a very good reputation when it comes to AMD cards. I actually thought it was the 200 series, but it turns out the 300 series are the really bad ones which perform equally as bad as reference.

 

As you're after an R9 280 you shouldn't have to worry about the cards being abused since it was pretty much the 290/x cards that were being used for that purpose.
