Ever since I cleaned my gpu I have been getting super low performance when gaming, watching videos etc. For example, before i was getting 200 fps in CS:GO average, now I'm getting about 20-30 fps on the lowest settings possible. Also my cpu usage has been 30-40% when idle and memory usage has increased as well, from 20% to 50% while idle. Do I just have to get a new GPU or is there any other way to fix this issue?

System specs are:

GT 740 gpu

AMD fx-4300

4 gigs of ram

Asrock n68-gs4 fx

Please clarify how you cleaned it.

Hi,

make sure the GPU and its power connectors are all plugged in correctly. Try plugging it to a different PCIe slot if you have one. Also respond to @Shadow_Storm56

You may have damaged it somehow, did you remove the cooler for cleaning? How did you clean it? How old is the video card? very old cards that have been operating 90Cº and higher are likely to have melted plastic parts, when you remove the cooler these parts are removed from their places causing issues, also the thermal pads are very important if you mounted it  back without them there will be issues.

Open up both Task Manager and HWMonitor, then play a game for a couple minutes.  Post screenshots of both.  You can use Alt+PrtSc to take a picture of a single window.

I didn't remove anything i just removed the dust from the cooler. The video card is about a year and a half old.

Just to make sure, you plugged your monitor back into your GPU, not the motherboard? I feel like if you damaged something on the GPU while cleaning it, you'd either be getting artifacts or just straight up a black screen.

My monitor is plugged into the GPU. Could the PCIe slot be damaged tho?

It used a maximum of 2% of your GPU, so I'm guessing Demiqas is right.

Try sticking it into another slot.  If it works, try putting it back into the original slot.

If it wasn't connected to the GPU, HWMonitor would probably not see the GPU though.

Another thing to note is that it's at a whopping 50 degrees celsius on idle. Willing to bet it's a temperature issue. Try monitoring temps under load.

Unfortunately my motherboard only has 1 PCIe slot

Then just try removing it and putting it back in.

Well I'm starting to grasp at straws here, but see if this works.
