Adjusting volume levels of RCA

I have connected my Pioneer PL-990 turntable (here) directly to my Krk Rockit 5s (here) through rca connectors as the turntable is preamped and the speakers are active.

The problem is even with the volume on the speakers turned down as low as they will go (-30dB) the volume is still loud enough that it can't be played without annoying the neighbours. Is there any problem with adjusting the volume after it has come out of the preamp and before it goes into the amped speakers (I think this is called line level but im not an audio buff so idk) and if possible can you suggest any equipment that would allow me to do so?

Thanks in advance
