If your folding or mining, sli uses 100% of the secondary or w/e 3 and 4 is called. It uses 100% of the utilization.

 

Games are the only thing that needs drivers 2d/3d programs to optimize to use sli.

So very soon I will have a spare GTX 470 which I used to fold on, and it did remarkably well. So well in fact, that I was thinking of buying two more of them (they are going for peanuts) and put them in a system for gpu folding. Will they do better in SLi or independently from another?

 

The CPU will be hosting a game server.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Hehehe, you bet! Winter is here so folding on the hottest possible hardware is tempting now. Maybe I'll build the rig into my cast iron stove!

I don't think being in SLI or not has any effect on PPD, but I'm no expert.

I thought that SLI hurt your ppd, since each card can take 1 WU anyhow? Dang useless search box! Just have to wait for whaler.

Mobile Workstation: MSI-ALPHA :R7 3750H, RX 5500M, 16GB of some ram, 500GB SSD.

I you are not using them to game, having them in SLI is pointless.

 

It might hurt ppd a bit, too.

SLI puts a very minor hit on the system... But, if not needed, run independent.
