Switching from APU + GPS to APU only

Go to solution Solved by EthanCGamer,

Yes, all you need to do is unplug the GPU and move the HDMI. I'd also uninstall the old drivers to free up some space. If your APU is as old as your GPU be ready for a pretty sharp drop in performance. I'd recommend finding a cheap used Nvidia 700 series or replacement AMD 200 series GPU for now.

Hello people of Linus Tech tips!

So long story short - burned up my R9 270 (rest in rip). But since I have a APU I didn't fear, since APU's are pretty good on their own (at least for minecraft, which I am playing now lol)

So, I wanted to understand - do I have to do anything other than taking out the GPU and plugging the HDMI in MB or anything else..?

Thanks in advance!

Remove GPU, plug HDMI cable into mobo, uninstall video drivers and get a new GPU if you plan on gaming.

Everyone else covered it pretty well, but just as an added thought: consider grabbing a gtx 1050. They are very cheap and have excellent performance

Yes, they did ?. I won't, I think about getting a new pc, since this one couldn't deliver what I was asking for even with the GPU.

But thank you all!
