Hyperlink Preview

Go to solution Solved by Crunchy Dragon,

There's a little window that pops up in the corner of my browser when I hover over a link that gives me a preview of where the link goes:

Every browser I've ever used has had this feature, so I'm not sure how useful it would be to implement in the forum.

Works with hyperlinks, but link shorteners like bit.ly don't work.

Would it be possible to add a text box that pops up when you hover cursor over a hyperlink so we can be sure that we are opening the link that a hyperlink appears to be? Basically a quick functionality of "copy link address" and pasting it somewhere.

Firefox and Chrome on desktop both do this on their own, and mobile Chrome pops up a little window if you long-press the link. Doesn't that cover the vast majority of use cases?

That must be one reason they're specifically called out in the Community Standards.

No shortened links (bit.ly etc.) without the permission of staff.

You know the rules, and so do I.

Weirdly enough safari doesn't have the little box in the corner, but you can use lookup to preview the webpage

"The most important step a man can take. It’s not the first one, is it?
It’s the next one. Always the next step, Dalinar."
–Chapter 118, Oathbringer, Stormlight Archive #3 by Brandon Sanderson

Older stuff:

Spoiler

"A high ideal missed by a little, is far better than low ideal that is achievable, yet far less effective"

If you think I'm wrong, correct me. If I've offended you in some way tell me what it is and how I can correct it. I want to learn, and along the way one can make mistakes; Being wrong helps you learn what's right.
