Hello, I'm looking into building a new PC and i decided on my motherboard I liked an AsRock x99 Professional LGA 2011-3 Intel X99

But my question is which CPU do you think is better?

Intel Core i7-6800K 15M Broadwell-E 6-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 2011-v3   439.99$ US

or

Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 2011-v3  389.99$ US

And some good ram too I guess. I am a gamer.

the 6800 has slightly improved IPC, thats what i know about them

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

No thank you i picked the board I wanted that wasn't my question.

I know but im asking why do you want X99?

You can get just as nice looking boards, on the cheaper platform, that will do what you want to with near enough the EXACT performance, for much less.

Just tryna help you save a couple 100 dollars.

If you're sure you want the X99 platform (more expensive with little/no benefit) then get the 5820K. it's cheaper and is almost identical to the 6800K.

I like the HDD savor function this board offer's that the newer one doesn't as of yet. That way I can keep a back up hard drive in my case and not having it run 24/7 When i turned it on I'll have auto back up all files i have selected. Is what i"m really looking for.I always seems to misplace my docking station some where. But yes i have my reason's for wanting this board I'm picky on how they look as well ^^

I don't know any other mobo that has this build in automatically other wise you have to make your own special button.

No power running to the hdd longer life space its only going to be for back ups and I don't have to go looking for it.

Well if you want to stick with a 2011 v3 board then you are going to have to go with an i7 5820K or any other cpu that fits this socket (i7 6800K, i7 6950X, i7 6900K etc).

The i7 7700K (Kaby Lake) is on a different platform and uses socket 1151.
