I7-7700K

Hello, my current build is a GTX 970, I5-6500, Z170-PRO ,16 GB RAM, in a year or so i will be upgrading to the equivalent of the GTX 1080 so i want to save up to try and get an i7. I like gaming a lot and i want to start streaming, video editing and coding aswell(as i want to be a game designer when im older) im running 2 monitors aswell if that means anything , because the 7700k has been released within the last month, would it be worth getting the 6700k or the 7700k or just a bit more of the price.

the 7700k is basically just a faster clocked 6700k so its up to you to decide if it makes sense to pay the extra money for the higher clock speed.

Look, the 7700k is more or less the exact same cpu as the 6700k but the 7700k has more oc headroom. I have noticed that the 7700k runs a lot hotter than the 6700k so I don't know. If you have suffiecient cooling I would personally go for the 7700k, if not the 6700k is absolutely fine. On Amazon there is a 5 dollar difference.

I have the cooler master hyper 212 evo for the cpu cooler and would i be able to overclock a fair bit on either if needed?

yeah man the 212 evo is fine for a moderate overclock but I would stronlgy suggest an AIO if you want to go balls deep 5.2 Ghz overclock

If you stream content in 4k on Netflix you would need the kaby lake architecture, thanks to some retarded gnome on microsoft. Otherwise just get the skylake 6700k, If you feel the need too do that move.

The 7700k has 4 extra downstream PCI lanes as well. So it you want a lot of storage that helps.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

7700K beats the 6700K in most benchmarks, and its $350 right now. I'd get one if your motherboard has a BIOS update for Z270

There isnt much of a performance difference so i'd say 6700k since it will soon be cheaper.

Well it gives like 3-8 more FPS in most games, and is only like $10 more right now. It's %15 faster accordng to Userbench, so depends on OP's needs.

Actually the extra PCIe lanes are from the z270 chip set (24 KBL vs 20 SL).  Kaby Lake CPUs and Skylake CPUs both have 16 PCIe lanes.  Kaby Lake CPUs shares the same DMI 3.0 interface as Skylake so max theoretical bandwidth from chipset to CPU is the same.

Odd, the info I got from Gamer Nexus was that though the chip was responsible for splitting the lanes, you still needed a Kabylake CPU to access them. I'll have to look into this further.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

You may need the Kaby Lake CPU to access them, but the lanes come from the z270 chipset itself.  I'd be surprised if you couldn't use the extra chipset lanes with a Skylake CPU, but I don't know either way.
