You'd want an OCable Z170 mobo. Also, get a bigger SSD. 120GB ones are a garbage in terms of value. The Kingston V300 isn't very good anyways, some controversy sparking around Kingston's baiting-and-switching. For the PSU, I'd rather get the G2 than the G1, though the G1 isn't horrible. Other options are available too, like the EVGA GQ series.

A colossal understatement. The V300 is terrible, and Kingston's straight-up charlatanism should never be rewarded with sales. It isn't just a blemish on the SSD market for performance, but it's also indicative of something that should never be supported by consumers.

Not a V300 SSD

I agree with @BingoFishy don;t get that PSU

You can't OC on h170/h11 or b150 motherboard, you need z170. Save money and get a non K CPU

My friend has one, and he is getting worse performance than my WD Blue.

Jesus Christ. When I say 'neutered' I mean 200 MB/s. Slower than a WD Blue would make it 120 or less, which is ridiculous. It's approaching 5400RPM territory.

@deXxterlab97's build is better value. If you're insistent on overclocking, I fixed your build.

  • A motherboard that supports overclocking
  • More reasonably-priced RAM
  • A much better SSD
  • Mass storage
  • A better GPU (with a much better cooler)
  • A power supply that I think is better than the G1 unit you used. @STRMfrmXMN- correct me if I'm wrong. At any rate, it's cheaper.

Yeah maybe he has a bunch of crap on it. SSD's aren't supposed to slow down though. Maybe it just is that slow.

SSDs do slow down if you get beyond a certain point. Performance plummets drastically when you have less than 20% of the drive's capacity free. Most drives, anyway.

Just an example of really stretching your budget for maximum performance.  The i7 boosts to 4.0 GHz, so I would grab a small aftermarket cooler at some point.  Mass storage can be added later on.  This is only $10 more than the original build.
