So you don't have that cable I showed? That cable is an 8 pin plus a 4+4 pin that the reviewer says is for the cpu.

The cpu cable as stated by many mire reviewers in overclock.net and tomshardware for the 650 g2 is just a I pin to 4+4 pin while thebpictute you showed is the vga cable a 8 pin to 6+2 and 6 pin I am sitting here looking at the Manuel right now  the information there is in fact wrong

The cable I showed is an 8 pin with 4+4, have a close look at the extra end. Is that what your CPU cable looks like?

 Watch until he installs the cpu cable the cable he describes from evga themselves said it is a solid 8 pin two 4 pins that is what I have

That's the gpu cable I'm not trying that

The picture @vong posted is actually the right cable (EPS) that should come with the SuperNOVA 650 G2, it's not a PCIE/GPU cable.

Maybe there's a confusion on the model of PSU you have?

If not and you only have a straight 8pins to 4+4 then you might have the wrong cable and should contact EVGA. Their website clearly states you should have a 2x 8 pins EPS connector (under the "Spec" tab, scroll down to "Connector Quantity);

http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-G2-0650-Y1

EDIT: also taking pictures would clarify if they sent you the right cable ;)

@Dogsparky

The Power supply end and the motherboard end are different.

One end of the cable is keyed, so it connects to the power supply, while the other end is keyed so it connects to the motherboard.

The BEST solution is to post a picture of the cable end you are trying to connect to the motherboard.

A picture describes something several hundred times better than just words -- that's why manuals (e.g. motherboards, computer case) have pictures in them...

Remember, I had to use diagrams / pictures to explain your loose Z170 chipset problem xD

Yes you are right but only one end fits inside the power supply I can't fit the other end into the power supply so that only leaves one option the end that fits

The cable literally says cpu on that there is nothing else to describe other than that lithe cable says cpu one end fits into The power supply the other end doesn't fit inside motherboard because of keying

Depending on how the pin on the motherboard and is keyed, the "octagon" shaped pin WILL work in a "square" pin hole.

You'll have to post a picture to 100% confirm.

Please 9001% check the note I made:

The bottom part of the diagram is with the cable pins NOT facing out.

As if you are trying to plug a power cable into an ordinary wall socket.

AND check where the locking tab is at on BOTH the motherboard socket, AND power cable.

Like if you are up above the cable, looking down...like this picture

(The picture is NOT specifically for your motherboard; it is a random Google picture)

I am looking at the cable myself why do other people need to confirm when I am confirming it I am looking at it and when I got to plug it into the motherboard the squares try to plug into the hexagons and the hexagons try to plug into the squares completes opposites of each other

6pin and 6+2pin ones would be for GPU. Also, from the 8pin CPU cable, the end which isn't split would be the end going to PSU. Some smaller, older and lower end mobos still use only 3pin connectors, which would be the reason for split.

There isn't any punctuation either. It takes some wondering from non-native-english speakers like me to understand what you are trying to say. I'm starting to be really good at it.

The header has latch which locks it to mobo. If you already have connected 24pin, you can use that as reference. With 8pin or 4+4pin both 4pin parts have this latch. Make sure you line latch to its place on mobo side. Also they have ledges to lock splits to each other. So when you are connecting it, make sure to connect part with bottom ledge first.

As for how pics do help. This sounds really like issue is how you are looking at cables. You say cable is correct. If thats the case, there shouldn't be any issues. Other than connectors being tight (like with Silverstone PSUs).

how does cpu power can work because my motherboard is a bit iffy on the actual connector as the connector doesn't actually fit and yes it I was putting it in the right way as well as tried other ALL other directions so there is no way I could have missed something like that because no matter what direction it was facing the shapes did not match up

But the power supply comes with an adapter that allows me to plug in a 8 pin cable that adapts to two other 8 pins that I can plug into the motherboard the adapter worka but the motherboard only has one cpu power slot so I'm not sure if it is safe if one side of the cable isnt be used, while the adapter has two extensions instead of one

Before you ask yes the cable says cpu

Motherboard is msi gaming m5 z170a and PSU is evga supernova 650 g2

Make sure you are using the CPU 8-pin connector not the PCI-E 8-pin connector for the motherboard.
